Jonah Place Historic 1884 Inn

Jonah Place is housed in a beautiful, registered-heritage home dating back to 1884 and named after Harry Jonah – a famous local judge.

The unique details of the house have remained well preserved. Guests will enjoy the high ceilings with decorative crown mouldings, vast bay windows, impressive marble fireplaces, and “log-cabin-style” hardwood floors, furnished with beautiful antiques and period pieces.

We have 5 tastefully decorated guestrooms, 1 with private bath, 4 with ensuite baths, all equipped with every contemporary comfort; 2 spacious and comfortable parlors, TV in every guest room, plus books, magazines, DVD player, and free Wi-Fi.

Try one of our tandem bicycles to explore the area and admire its beauty, like the historic covered bridges and Sussex’s 26 impressive murals painted by world-renowned artists. Restaurants and shops are only a few minutes away.

Sussex’s central location in southern New Brunswick makes Jonah Place an excellent point from which to take day trips. Many sites worth seeing in the area are Fundy National Park of Canada, The Fundy Trail, The Hopewell Rocks, St. Martins Sea Caves, whale watching, fishing and the cities of Moncton, Fredericton and Saint John. Have your picture taken with the world's largest lobster in Shediac, an artwork done by one of the previous owners of our property.
Large annual events such as the Atlantic Balloon Fiesta, World's Largest Flea Market, and regular events such antique auto shows, horse shows and canine agility events are all worth taking in. We have numerous restaurants to suit every taste and hundreds of hiking and wilderness trails for the adventuresome.

A great destination to visit as well in the winter, only 10 km (6 mi.) from 1 of Atlantic Canada’s premier ski and snowboarding areas. The ocean is 30 minutes away and offers whale-watching, cave kayaking and more.
